Vinta is a special collaboration between Proxies and award-winning sommelier Miguel de Leon. Miguel—an alum of Momofuku and Chez Panisse, and sommelier at Pinch Chinese—has earned numerous honors for his thoughtful curatorial approach and advocacy work, including Michelin Guide Sommelier of the Year and a James Beard Award.
Vinta is a memory of Miguel’s Filipino childhood, marrying tropical fruit with citrus, tea and pandan. Riesling offers acidity, while a duo of black teas—Nepal and Jasmine—lend grippy tannins and a balancing bitter finish. Orange in color, texture, and style, Vinta draws inspiration from the golden glow, intense aromatics and tannic structure of skin contact wines.
