Virgin Margarita with Beet Juice

You heard that right. Beet Juice. Earthy, tart and wonderful as a floater on top of a virgin margarita. The amazing Aneel at Basic Kitchen in Charleston, SC crafted this off-menu delight right in front of us when we were visiting for our Booze-Free City Guide. Here's how to make this simple and delicious virgin margarita.


  • 1 oz Seedlip Spice

  • 1 oz Seedlip Garden

  • 2 oz Margarita Mix (Basic Kitchen uses 2/3 lime juice, 1/6 orange juice and 1/6 agave)

  • 1/2 oz Beet Juice (Basic Kitchen makes their beet juice with apple, beet, lemon, cucumber and carrot)


  1. Shake the Seedlip Spice, Seedlip Garden and margarita mix with ice

  2. Pour with the ice into your glass

  3. Float the beet juice atop your drink

  4. Garnish with a lime wheel
