Lapo's Non-Alcoholic Amaro

It leads with licorice, cinnamon, orange blossom, and pine, with cooling notes of mint and eucalyptus alongside a pinewood finish. Like a classic amaro, it's aromatic and bittersweet rather than sweet.

Lapo's likes it as a highball: pour over ice, top with bubbles, and garnish with a lemon peel. It's also lovely chilled but neat as a post-dinner digestif, or mixed into any amaro-based cocktail.

It's made with natural botanicals including date syrup, rhubarb root extract, and bitter orange. Each bottle is 750 ml.

Lapo's is made by The Zero Proof, the non-alcoholic beverage company behind this store, and it's based in Atlanta, Georgia. The brand is named after a bartender the team met at Harry's Bar in Italy, and its Italian-inspired lineup — Negroni, Aperitivo, Citrus Spritz and more — is all 0.0% ABV and made with real ingredients and no artificial sweeteners. For a drink to be legally non-alcoholic, it has to be 0.5% alcohol by volume or less. While this doesn't make it totally alcohol-free, it does mean it is impossible to experience any intoxication or other psychoactive effects from alcohol. For context, a slice of sourdough bread or a ripe banana has more alcohol by volume than any of our drinks!

Non-alcoholic spirits are specifically developed for mixing in non-alcoholic cocktails. These spirits taste great when mixed with soda water, tonic water, sodas, juices, and even other non-alcoholic spirits, but they might taste a little weird on their own. You're welcome to try them neat (we can't stop you!), but we don't recommend assessing whether or not you like a non-alcoholic spirit without mixing it, first.
