It leads with smoke, dark berries, and bitter orange — think tart cherry and smoky lapsang tea, with American oak smoothing the middle. Ginger and cayenne bring a little warmth to the finish. It took Platinum at the L.A. Spirit Awards in 2023.

Give the bottle a gentle shake to mix, then pour 3–4 oz over ice in your favorite glass. Garnish with an orange twist or a Luxardo cherry if you're feeling fancy — no mixing or other ingredients needed.

It's made with water, desugared tart cherry juice concentrate, ginger and lemongrass, rooibos, American oak and lapsang souchong extracts, orange and bitter orange, cayenne, allulose, and stevia. A 125 mL serving has 25 calories and less than 1g of sugar, so the 750 mL bottle pours about six servings.

Tilden is made by Tilden Cocktails, a non-alcoholic cocktail company co-founded by Vanessa Royle and Mariah Hilton Wood, who met at Harvard Business School and launched the brand in 2023. The company is based in Santa Barbara, California, where Royle is located, while Wood works from Boston. Lacewing and Tandem were the brand's first two ready-to-serve bottled cocktails.

For a drink to be legally non-alcoholic, it has to be 0.5% alcohol by volume or less. While this doesn't make it totally alcohol-free, it does mean it is impossible to experience any intoxication or other psychoactive effects from alcohol. For context, a slice of sourdough bread or a ripe banana has more alcohol by volume than any of our drinks!

Some contain trace amounts of alcohol at less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.  This is consistent with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s labeling policy, which permits the use of the term, “non-alcoholic” to describe a product that contains less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.

Non-alcoholic spirits are specifically developed for mixing in non-alcoholic cocktails. These spirits taste great when mixed with soda water, tonic water, sodas, juices, and even other non-alcoholic spirits, but they might taste a little weird on their own. You're welcome to try them neat (we can't stop you!), but we don't recommend assessing whether or not you like a non-alcoholic spirit without mixing it, first.
