Caleño Dark & Spicy Non-Alcoholic Tropical Rum

It's dark and rich with exotic, tropical character — think kola nut, dark maple syrup and baking spice, plus notes of pineapple, coconut, ginger, vanilla and lime. It's built to stand in for rum rather than taste like a soft drink.

Pour 2 oz over ice and top with Coca-Cola for a non-alcoholic Rum and Coke, or mix with ginger beer and lime juice for a Dark 'n' Stormy. Ginger ale over ice is another easy pour, and it works as a straight rum swap in most rum cocktails.

It's a 500 ml bottle with about 10 servings at 1.7 fl oz (50 ml) each, at 22 calories per serving.

Caleño is made by Caleño Drinks, a UK company founded by Ellie Webb, who started distilling in her kitchen after a trip through Colombia and built the brand around tropical flavors inspired by the city of Cali. The company is based in Bristol, England, where Caleño Drinks Ltd is registered, and it's a certified B Corp. Both the Light & Zesty and Dark & Spicy bottles we carry are the brand's original 0.0% spirits.

For a drink to be legally non-alcoholic, it has to be 0.5% alcohol by volume or less. While this doesn't make it totally alcohol-free, it does mean it is impossible to experience any intoxication or other psychoactive effects from alcohol. For context, a slice of sourdough bread or a ripe banana has more alcohol by volume than any of our drinks!

Some contain trace amounts of alcohol at less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.  This is consistent with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s labeling policy, which permits the use of the term, “non-alcoholic” to describe a product that contains less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.

Non-alcoholic spirits are specifically developed for mixing in non-alcoholic cocktails. These spirits taste great when mixed with soda water, tonic water, sodas, juices, and even other non-alcoholic spirits, but they might taste a little weird on their own. You're welcome to try them neat (we can't stop you!), but we don't recommend assessing whether or not you like a non-alcoholic spirit without mixing it, first.
