ISH Mexican Agave Non-Alcoholic Spirit

It's made in the classic Reposado tequila style, with warm notes of agave and toasted oak plus green herbs and green pepper. There's even the familiar burn you'd expect from a tequila, so it drinks with real spice and character.

Use it anywhere you'd use full-strength tequila — Margaritas, Palomas, and Ranch Water are the obvious picks. It's also lovely in hot chocolate with grated cinnamon and a pinch of cayenne, or in a non-alcoholic Oaxaca Old-Fashioned with House Alchemy Mexican Chile Syrup and All the Bitter Orange Bitters.

Each 700 ml bottle holds about eight 2 oz servings, with 5 calories and 0 g sugar per serving. Ingredients include water, glycerol, natural flavoring (with oakwood, brown sugar, laurel, malt, and capsicum extract), agave syrup, salt, citric acid, apple extract, cellulose gum, and potassium sorbate.

ISH is a Danish company founded in Copenhagen in 2018 by Morten Sørensen, and it's still headquartered there. The Château del ISH sparkling wines are made from de-alcoholized grapes grown in Germany's Rheingau region — Pinot Noir and Merlot for the Rosé, Pinot Blanc and Silvaner for the White. The Caribbean Spiced Rum and Mexican Agave Tequila alternatives come from the same Copenhagen-based team.

For a drink to be legally non-alcoholic, it has to be 0.5% alcohol by volume or less. While this doesn't make it totally alcohol-free, it does mean it is impossible to experience any intoxication or other psychoactive effects from alcohol. For context, a slice of sourdough bread or a ripe banana has more alcohol by volume than any of our drinks!

Not all of our non-alcoholic beverages are 100% alcohol-free. Some contain trace amounts of alcohol at less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.  This is consistent with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s labeling policy, which permits the use of the term, “non-alcoholic” to describe a product that contains less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.

Non-alcoholic spirits are specifically developed for mixing in non-alcoholic cocktails. These spirits taste great when mixed with soda water, tonic water, sodas, juices, and even other non-alcoholic spirits, but they might taste a little weird on their own. You're welcome to try them neat (we can't stop you!), but we don't recommend assessing whether or not you like a non-alcoholic spirit without mixing it, first.
